Block Planes come in many shapes and sizes all have the blade bevel up. Low Angle Block Planes have the blade bedded at 12°. We grind a 25° flat bevel on our Block Plane blades. This works well on end grain and general purpose work. Higher cutting angles will give excellent results in figured and difficult woods. Our Low Angle Block Plane has an appealing feel in the hand and is a pleasure to use. It is versatile, of a convenient size, and cuts with the authority of 1½ pounds behind every stroke. Useful for every sort of woodworking job, this tool will quickly become a favorite. An ideal companion to the Low Angle Jack Plane. You can easily adjust the tool to suit the work being done; a very fine mouth setting for finishing work and the merest shavings, or an ample opening for rank cuts.

Customer Rating: Summary: As Good As It Gets Comment: This block plane will make any woodworker happy. It has a 1 3/8" wide blade which is 1/8" thick to prevent chatter and is practically ready right out of the box. I gave mine a few passes over an 8000 grit water stone and it was ready to go. There's almost no backlash when adjusting the cut and the adjustable mouth makes it possible to make shavings as thin as 1/1000" thick. The plane is beautifully made and weighs in at about 1 1/2 pounds. But I have to take note of the description given...This is the #60 1/2 low angle block plane not the #9 1/2 standard plane and this one is most useful for end grain and/or easy to plane woods. If you need a standard angle (blade bedded at 20 deg.)or are working with figured woods or difficult to plane pieces you have to get the standard angle plane and this isn't it. However if you need a low angle block plane you can't do any better than this beauty.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fine handplane Comment: I have been using this for a variety of projects like boxes and furniture and it has been great. Superb workmanship with a top quality blade and chip breaker. It is a pleasure to use.
