Comment: This live chuck solved the issue of loud screeching, burned wood and waxing the end of the wood contacting a stationary standard lathe end.
This live chuck is a simple pleasure to use. Quality constructed, will last a long time. Very satisified with my purchase.

Summary: wobbles
Comment: I purchased this live center to replace my old one which wobbles a tiny bit when it spins, but the only problem is that the new one wobbles just as much! The product contains moving parts which could easily be damaged even on light impact, and unfortunately it wasn't packaged very well for shipping. The item itself is only packed in a little, thin plastic case about 4-5 inches long with a tiny foam pad at the tip. This was placed in the corner of a cardboard box about 12 inches long along with a little book I ordered. 3 sealed air bags were placed on top of these items in that box. That heavy little live center placed in the corner of that box with little protection probably saw more than it's fair share of hard knocks during shipping so I can't entirely blame the product itself. I opted for a return instead of a replacement because I didn't want to deal with the hassel of packing it up, waiting for it to be inspected, then waiting for a new one to ship all while hoping the replacement would be good, with the possibility of having to do it all over again. If I had more samples and they were all bad then I would give it 1 star. But since I really don't know if it's the product itself or just improper packing, I gave it a neutral 3 stars. The one good thing I can say about this product is that the point or spike is shaped so that I could apply much more pressure with the tailstock without cracking or spliting any small wood pieces when I was trying it out. Anything other than light pressure from my old Jet live center was highly likely to crack small pieces.

Comment: This is a very nicely made live tail center at a very reasonable price. Amazon finally has posted the correct picture of the product (they used to show a 60-degree cone center by mistake, which seems to be the only reason for the other negative reviews). I also recommend PSI's other live tail centers and drive centers, which are excellent values as well.

Comment: Not good, I didn't want this one, it wasn't the one in the picture. Why is is the same order number as the fully tapered number. You should change it!

Comment: Wish the description gave the diameter it is still smaller that the chuck that came with the lathe but I would like something smaller in diameter when working near the tailstock.
