Customer Rating: Summary: B&D PS140 Battery Comment: This product is an exact replacement for the batteries that came in any 14.4V post-type firestorm equipment. As in other reviews the base charger should be upgraded to PS1514BU model.
Customer Rating: Summary: Black & Decker PS140 battery Comment: This battery works fine, it is just expensive (but the best price I found was here on amazon.com). Unfortunately, if one has an older piece of equipment that requires this battery, one HAS to buy this battery. I think the newer batteries are stronger and maybe cheaper, so one might consider the value of the original piece of equipment and decide if it is worth it to replace the equipment instead of the battery...
Customer Rating: Summary: It Works Comment: Received with free shipping. It came with a
partial charge. Put it in the charger and it
charged shortly and ran the drill motor. Seems
to be working fine.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review of super saver shipping Comment: It took 16 days for item to arrive. Website shows shipped from Memphis, only about 100 miles away. I called Amazon after 14 days and they reshipped. I received first order 2 days later. And when I received the replacment 7 days after it supposedly was shipped, I returned it to Amazon.
This free super saver shipping is a joke! Amazon's customer service is good, but I will think long and hard before I use free super saver shipping again. I honestly believe the delay in shipping was on Amazon's end and not USPS. Amazon makes up the shipping label right away, but when they ship is another thing. They want to blame the USPS but I don't think so. As for the product; it is fine.
Customer Rating: Summary: Get the Dewalt charger Comment: Got this as a replacement battery for my B&D Firestorm tools which are still working after 10 years. I followed other reviewers' advice and got the Dewalt DW9116 charger for under $13 plus shipping, to replace my B&D chargers, both of which died. Some have been looking for instructions for the DW9116, especially about tune-up mode.
When you insert the battery in the DW9116, the red light will blink, indicating the battery is charging. After an hour or so, the light will stay on, indicating the battery is charged. If you leave the battery in the charger, the charger automatically goes into tune-up mode, which can take up to 8 hours. The light will go out when tune-up mode is complete. You can remove the battery at any time during tune-up.
Some DeWalt chargers may come with a tune-up button, which you of course must press to start tune-up mode.
If you get long-and-short flashes, it may mean the battery is too hot or too cold to charge. Wait until the battery reaches room temperature.
Two short flashes, a pause, two short flashes, a pause, etc., means there is a problem with the AC power. This may be for when the charger is powered by a portable generator, but might also occur if there's a problem with your home or job site AC power. Hope this helps.
